A colleague of mine and fellow ABC broadcaster, Professor Roly Sussex recently found himself following shoppers around a car park - waiting for them to lead them to a car space, which they would then vacate. Struck by how common this act was and being a master of language as he is, a new word was born. STARKING - the combination or stalking and parking.
Now it just remains to be seen if this will become as common as Motel or other similar words.
Well done, Roly!

Re: Starking - I stark - You stark
I met this word yesterday while dining with Roly. The compere put this word to the audience to see if anyone knew the meaning. One person googled and probably found your blog post. Well done. The word lives on and is gathering momentum. (Roly himself was unaware the word had been googled.
